As a guide for the most-quoted items: a Ranger 3.2 TDCi water pump runs roughly R1,200-R1,800 aftermarket versus R2,400-R3,200 OEM, a set of four reconditioned 3.2 TDCi injectors lands around R12,000-R18,000 (new OEM is R6,500-R8,500 each), an EcoBoost 1.0/1.5 thermostat housing kit is R650-R1,100 aftermarket, a Fiesta DCT clutch pack with adaptation is R14,000-R22,000 depending on whether internals are reused, and a Kuga 1.5 EcoBoost water pump and thermostat kit runs R1,800-R2,800 aftermarket. Both. For most Fords we can source genuine Ford OEM parts, OE-supplier brands (Bosch, Mahle, Pierburg, Continental/VDO, Sachs, Valeo, Hella) and budget aftermarket equivalents. OE-supplier is usually the sweet spot — same factory, Ford-yellow box stripped off — and runs 30-45% below dealer list. For wear items, gaskets, sensors, water pumps and brake components that's our default. For injectors, EGR coolers, DCT clutch packs and EcoBoost cooling assemblies we'll usually flag OEM or properly remanufactured units rather than the cheapest aftermarket — the failure cost is too high to chase the bottom of the market.
Stocked items inside Johannesburg usually go same-day or next-day via courier. OE-supplier items pulled from a second JHB supplier typically land within 1-3 working days. Less common parts — early Bantam trim, specific Mustang GT bits, or a particular Ranger Wildtrak module — can stretch to 5-10 working days while we work the SA network or wait on an import. It's the single most important fault on the 1.0, 1.5 and 1.6 EcoBoost engines and the reason the 1.6 Kuga was recalled in SA in 2017 after a string of engine fires. Coolant erodes a path through the cylinder head waterway into the cylinder, which causes misfires, white smoke, coolant loss without an external leak, and in the worst cases a cracked head or hot oil spray that ignites. On the 1.0 and 1.5 the fix usually means a new cylinder head or a head with reinforced waterways, plus a fresh thermostat housing (which warps and leaks on its own), water pump, and a coolant flush. A complete cooling overhaul on a 1.0 or 1.5 EcoBoost typically runs R8,500-R14,000 in parts depending on whether the head is salvageable. If your EcoBoost is losing coolant and there's no visible leak under the car, stop driving it and get it diagnosed — running it dry is what destroys the engine.
A complete set of four new genuine Ford 3.2 TDCi injectors (the P5AT engine) runs around R26,000-R34,000 fitted-cost-excluded. Reconditioning a set through a reputable SA diesel specialist (full strip, nozzle replacement, calibration and coding) is the more common route at R12,000-R18,000 for all four. Individual reconditioned injectors are about R3,200-R4,500 each. We quote both options — we don't run the reconditioning ourselves, we supply the unit or the new injectors and you choose the diesel shop. SA fuel quality and water contamination from older underground tanks are the main culprits; if one injector has gone, the others are usually close behind, so we'd push for the full set rather than one-at-a-time.
It's fixable but it's expensive and it's worth understanding before you commit. The 6DCT250 Powershift in the Mk6 Fiesta (and early EcoSport) has a well-documented dry-clutch shudder, juddering on pull-away and harsh 1-2 shifts caused by clutch pack wear and a control module that loses its adaptation. A full clutch pack replacement with TCM reflash and fresh adaptation lands around R14,000-R22,000 depending on whether the input shaft seals and forks are also done. We supply the clutch pack OEM or LuK (the OE supplier) — we don't recommend the cheapest aftermarket kits on this gearbox, they tend to come back inside 30,000 km. On a high-mileage Fiesta where the rest of the car is tired, owners sometimes sell rather than fix; we'll quote honestly so you can make that call with real numbers.
